South Sudan Independence Celebrations
What was once Africa’s largest country Sudan was split into two separate countries when South Sudan was officially declared Africa’s 54th country on 9 July 2011. What a momentous occasion and we were there to do our part!
Having been given the go-ahead merely four weeks before the event, together with Losberger, Custom Structures successfully installed over 3000sqm of temporary structures complete with glass walls, cassette walls, cassette flooring, door systems, climatic control and internal decoration at the John Garang Mausoleum in the heart of Juba, Southern Sudan. Logistically this was a great challenge that we managed successfully. Owing to tight deadlines, the equipment was shipped via Antonov 225 aircraft from Europe to Ethiopia and then travelled by road to Juba.
The independence was attended by 34 State Presidents and various other World leaders, including Ban Ki-moon and General Colin Powell, to name a few.
